![]() ![]() My question is, if you want a 4 star experience and will pay a 3 star resort for them to try to give you a 4 star experience, why not just pay the extra at a 4 star resort? They do it every day in every way. It's not that they are not trying hard, they certainly are. But they don't work 7 days a week, they get a day off, so the resort has to plug someone else in for that day off, and the experience drops a notch. If you pay for the upgrade to a 4 star experience, they'll put their best 3 star employees on that rotation and they'll try hard to improve your experience, even bring it up to a 3 1/2 star experience, maybe a 4. You book a 3 star resort, and they'll provide you a 3 star experience every day in every way. And then I'd need to see the price points, would it really be worth it? Similar pages Cozumel Hotel & Resort Trademark Collection By Wyndham. We also found the service & drinks much better at FA. FA has unlimited a la carte reservations. FA's room service was great and on time - important for early morning dive departures. I can't recall which resort we were able to get room service at (I don't think they both have it) but it was terrible and 30 minutes late. But the food at FA is WAY better in every regard to either Occidental or Iberostar. We've found that when you compare the Royal price to the cost of staying at Fiesta Americana, it's pretty close. If you stay Royal, I'd give the Occidental the slight edge. We eat dinner off resort at Alberto's (beach restaurant), short walk from both resorts, several times while staying at each resort. Neither place has what I would consider good food. Occidental Royal Section lets you eat a la carte every night plus it give you access to their best restaurant - where we eat many of our meals. I don't mind an occasional buffet but I really dislike being forced to eat at one when I'm paying for all inclusive. They both restrict you to 3 (4? can't recall) a la carte reservations per week and then force you to eat at the buffet.
